Breck, I'm currently reading a biography of Robert E. Lee, a West Point trained engineer and also a head of the academy for a few years. During his West Point leadership tenure, he was forced by the army brass to introduce the study of the humanities into the cadet curriculum. Lee would have agreed with you that the technical training of a cadet was more important than liberal arts training, although liberal arts studies back in his day consisted of studying the classics, an endeavor far removed from the pablum we serve up today in liberal arts classes. Enjoyed the article!

Great commentary, Breck. Mr. Parsons will be much happier in a modern indoctrination system--a civilian university.

And military academy cadets will be MUCH better educated sans Parsons-type profs.
